The Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority's (SERA) board of directors held an emergency meeting today, Jan. 25, to address the power outage that occurred at 4:01 pm today in the Southern Region.

The meeting was chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, alongside Saudi Electricity Co.'s (SEC) board of directors, the state-run SPA reported.

During the meeting, SERA board confirmed overseeing efforts to restore power to affected customers as soon as possible.

SEC board of directors also directed to conduct a comprehensive and urgent internal investigation to determine the technical or operational causes behind the outage and to submit a detailed report on the findings.

Further, SERA board reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring measures taken to ensure the company's adherence to technical and operational standards that guarantee reliable electricity services.

This aligns with the authority's responsibility to protect consumer rights across the Kingdom.
