Saudi Electricity says power restored in southern region

Saudi Electricity Co. announced the full return of electricity service to subscribers affected by the outage in Jazan, Asir and Najran regions.

In a statement to Tadawul, the company said that the power outage was due to an unexpected shutdown of generating stations.

The company activated its emergency response plans to ensure a highly efficient and safe response to the situation.

According to data available with Argaam, the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority's (SERA) board of directors held an emergency meeting, on Jan. 25, to address the power outage that occurred in the southern region. It directed to conduct a comprehensive and urgent internal investigation to determine the technical or operational causes behind the outage and to submit a detailed report on the findings.
