Basic Chemical Industries Co. (BCI) signed a contract for the sale, supply, and provision of equipment, spare parts, as well as engineering and consulting services for the expansion of the chlor-alkali plant in Jubail with ThyssenKrupp.
In a Tadawul statement, the company said the 19-month contract includes the use of membrane technology. It is based on a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the associated know-how, engineering, and equipment for operating the plant.

The company plans to finance 25% of the total project costs, estimated at SAR 89 million, from its own resources, while the remaining amount will be financed through loans.
The company’s management expects the financial impact of the expansion project to be reflected positively in the first quarter of 2027. The project is anticipated to contribute to an annual revenue increase of approximately SAR 41 million compared to the expected sales for 2024.
Additionally, operating profit is expected to rise by around SAR 15.5 million compared to the projected operating profit for 2024, based on the current selling prices of the relevant products.
