Oil tanks
US oil inventories rose more than expected during the week ended Jan. 24, breaking a nine-week streak of declines.
According to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released today, Jan. 29, commercial oil inventories increased by 3.5 million barrels last week, compared to an expected rise of 1.1 million barrels.
While gasoline inventories increased by three million barrels, distillate stocks, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by five million barrels.
