The Ministry of Commerce invited interested parties and the public to express their opinions regarding the draft regulation of the Trade Names Law.

The draft regulation aims to organize the procedures for reserving and registering trade names, enhance their value, and ensure their protection and the rights related to them based on the Trade Names Law, the ministry said, in a statement.

The draft regulation includes setting specific and clear controls for reserving or registering trade names by facilitating and organizing the procedures in order to raise the level of compliance and services provided and spur technical connectivity with government agencies.

It also addressed the data that must be recorded when reserving a trade name, including the trade name and the name of the beneficiary of the reservation.

In order to achieve protection and transparency for trade names, the regulation set standards for the similarity of trade names that aim to prevent the registration of similar trade names in a way that may lead to confusion or misleading, which ensures the preservation of the rights associated with them and their distinction.
