Mobily decides not to renew CEO contract; Nezar Banabeela takes helm

Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) approved its CEO’s request not to renew his contract, setting his last working day on Feb. 23, due to personal reasons.
 
The company added in a statement on Tadawul that the board of directors appointed Nezar Banabeela as the new CEO, effective Feb. 24.
 
 

Banabeela has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technology sector. He has held several positions at giant telecom operator, stc, including CEO of stc Bahrain. He earlier served as CEO of one of the segments at National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri). He also worked at Mobily as an Executive General Manager of Partnership, in addition to holding positions at the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and a subsidiary of the Saudi Water Authority.

 

Mobily added that Banabeela holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Umm Al-Qura University. Additionally, he has obtained multiple professional certifications from the University of Cambridge and London Business School, as well as an Executive Management Program certificate from Harvard University.
