The General Authority for Competition (GAC) granted conditional approval for the economic concentration between the National Company for Glass Industries (Zoujaj) and Saudi Arabian Glass Co. Ltd. (SAGCO).

GAC received a request for Zoujaj to acquire full ownership of SAGCO. After conducting a competitive assessment and market impact analysis, the authority issued its no-objection decision.

Under its approval, GAC imposed some conditions and prerequisites to ensure fair competition and make room for new or expanding businesses.

The authority will monitor the company’s post-transaction compliance, assessing adherence for five years.

On Nov. 9, 2023, Zoujaj signed a 12-month non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SAGCO to explore a potential acquisition or merger deal, according to Argaam’s data.

In November 2024, Zoujaj extended the MoU until May 8, 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
