Ahmed Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI)
Ahmed Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), said that military spending in Saudi Arabia reached $75.8 billion (SAR 284.3 billion) in 2024, ranking the Kingdom as the fifth-largest military spender globally and the highest in the Arab world.
The Kingdom has allocated $78 billion to the military sector in the 2025 budget, which represents 21% of total government spending and 7.1% of its gross domestic product (GDP), Al-Ohali said in a speech during the Global Strategies Conference for the Defense and Aerospace Industry in Turkey.
He called on those interested in the military industries sector to capitalize on the incredible opportunities available in the Kingdom, stressing that the financial incentives and support target major players operating in the sector, as well as small and medium-sized companies specializing in military industries, both locally and internationally.
According to the data available with Argaam, localizing military industries is part of Vision 2030, which aims to localize 50% of military industries and manufacture them locally.
