Lenovo Group and PIF-owned sustainable technology manufacturing arm, Alat Co., broke ground on the former’s new manufacturing facility in Riyadh.
The 200,000-square-meter (sqm) plant will be located within Riyadh Integrated, which is operated by Saudi Arabia’s Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ), the state-run SPA reported.
The facility will produce millions of desktop and laptop computers, along with servers, under the “Made in Saudi” label.
Production activities are expected to begin in 2026.
The site will be just 15 minutes from King Khalid International Airport.
Lenovo will also establish its Middle East and Africa regional headquarters in Riyadh.
Alat aims to boost innovation and manufacturing across nine business units, covering semiconductors, smart devices, smart buildings, smart home appliances, digital health, electrification, advanced industries, and AI infrastructure. It will manufacture products in 34 categories.
The Lenovo-Alat partnership aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the PIF’s strategy.
It is expected to create 15,000 and 45,000 direct and indirect jobs, respectively. This shall in turn help add a cumulative $10 billion to the Saudi non-oil gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030.
