Donald Trump, US President
US President Donald Trump intends to impose an additional 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports into the United States from all countries worldwide.
Speaking to reporters aboard the presidential helicopter on Feb. 9, Trump stated that the new tariffs would be applied alongside the existing duties on metal imports, Reuters reported.
He also announced plans to introduce reciprocal tariffs on countries that impose duties on US imports, matching their rates. Trump said the measure would be officially announced by Feb. 11 or 12 and would take effect immediately.
"It's very simple—if countries impose tariffs on us, we will target them in return," he added.
