US President Donald Trump
US President Donald Trump ordered 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports, which enhances his efforts to protect important industries in the United States.
Customs tariffs will be applied to all US imports of steel and aluminum, including imports from Canada and Mexico, the largest metal suppliers for the country.
The new duties will include final metal products, with no exemptions for US trade partners; however, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Trump agreed to consider an exemption for his country.
These measures aim to eliminate what White House officials said about efforts by countries such as Russia and China to circumvent the current customs duties.
