Saudi Aramco President and CEO Amin Nasser called the Jafurah field an "impossible" achievement, being the only shale gas field of its size to be developed outside the US.

Addressing Al-Ahsa Forum 2025, Nasser highlighted the Jafurah project's role in solidifying Saudi Arabia's status as a leading global gas producer. He emphasized its importance in achieving the Kingdom’s objectives of expanding gas capacity by over 60% by 2030.

By 2030, the Jafurah field's daily production capacity is projected to reach two billion standard cubic feet (scf) of sales gas.

The CEO pointed out that all of Aramco's drilling services and logistical support for its oil and gas fields across Saudi Arabia are managed by King Salman Energy Park (SPARK).

The first phase of the SPARK project is complete, attracting over 60 local and international investors with investments exceeding SAR 12 billion, besides creating more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Several factories in SPARK are already running, with others soon to follow suit.

Nasser announced the development of Eastern Province's first and largest private dry port, which will begin phased operations in Q2 2025.

In February 2020, Saudi Aramco received a regulatory approval for the development of Jafurah unconventional gas field in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia’s largest non-associated gas field to date, Argaam earlier reported.

The Jafurah field is expected to start producing 200 million scf/day of natural gas in 2025.

Located between Dammam and Al-Ahsa, SPARK is a 50-square-kilometer development being developed over three phases. It comprises five key zones: industrial, dry port, business, training, and residential/commercial.
