US natural gas inventories fall more than expected

The US natural gas inventories decreased by 196 billion cubic feet (Bcf) during the week ended Feb. 14, surpassing expectations of a 191-Bcf decline.

 

Total natural gas reserves amounted to 2.101 trillion cubic feet, falling by 15.5% (about 386 Bcf), compared to the same period last year, data from the US Energy Information Administration showed today, Feb. 20.

 

The current inventories are 5.3% (almost 118 Bcf) lower, exceeding the five-year (2020-2024) average of 2.22 trillion cubic feet.
