The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) issued regulations governing close-out netting agreements and financial collateral arrangements for institutions under its supervision in Saudi Arabia.

These regulations apply to one or more qualified financial contracts when at least one party is subject to SAMA's oversight. They provide a legal cushion to mitigate risks in financial contracts, regardless of bankruptcy proceedings, SAMA explained in a statement.

Aligned with international standards and best practices, the regulations support the localization of financial institutions' transactions in derivatives and swaps markets, enhance risk management efficiency, and contribute to financial sector stability, the central bank added.

The regulations take effect immediately and apply to all financial institutions regulated by SAMA. The complete text is available on SAMA's Rulebook Platform through its official website.
