Tasnee gets Energy Ministry approval on feedstock allocation for Jubail industrial complex

National Industrialization Co. (Tasnee) obtained the approval of the Ministry of Energy to allocate quantities of ethane, propane and butane, the necessary feedstock for the establishment of an industrial complex project in Jubail Industrial City.

 

The project will contain a thermal cracking unit for the production of ethylene with high world-scale capacity, the company said in a filing to Tadawul today, Feb. 26.

 

It added that the project will target the production of approximately 3.3 million metric tons of petrochemical products, including high-density polyethylene (HDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE).

A package of products will also be offered for the first time in the region, such as next-generation phthalate-free plasticizers, as well as new grades of polyether polyols and EO / PO copolymers for a wide range of applications. This is in addition to other specialized products that will have a role in enhancing the added value of the petrochemical industry in the Kingdom.

 

According to the studies presented, the target date for the project start-up will be in the fourth quarter of 2030.

 

Tasnee will begin work on initiating the necessary engineering designs for the project, and any fundamental development related to this project will be announced in accordance with the relevant regulations.

 

The company will use leading technologies in accordance with the highest specifications quality standards, the most cost-competitive production methods, and the latest advanced technologies available in proportion to the size of the project and its strategic importance.
