US negotiates with 4 groups on sale of TikTok: Trump

US President Donald Trump said that his administration is negotiating with four different groups on the potential sale of China’s ByteDance-owned TikTok, adding that all options are on the table.

 

When asked by reporters aboard Air Force One on March 9 whether a deal regarding TikTok would be reached soon, Trump replied, "It’s possible. We are dealing with four different groups”. However, he did not specify the names of the groups involved.

 

The decision to ban TikTok was briefly implemented in January, before Trump granted the platform an extension until April 5 to either finalize a sale of its US operations or face a ban in the country.

 

Last week, Trump pointed out that he would be open to extending the deadline for the ban again, if necessary, but he believes an agreement could be reached next month.
