The meeting coincided with the upcoming celebration of World Kidney Day across various hospitals in the Kingdom and aimed to discuss ways to enhance dialysis services, particularly peritoneal dialysis as an innovative treatment method.
Representatives of Baxter lauded the Ministry of Health's support and its continuous efforts to develop the healthcare sector, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve the best outcomes in treating kidney failure patients.
Key discussion points:
- Raising awareness about peritoneal dialysis and its benefits for all stakeholders in the healthcare system, particularly for kidney failure patients, by providing them with a better quality of life and reducing the burden on healthcare facilities, expenses, and infrastructure of the Ministry of Health, as it is a home-based therapy.
- Establishing a unified policy and clear guidelines for all healthcare sectors regarding the availability of different treatment methods for kidney failure patients, including pre-dialysis education and selecting the appropriate treatment based on patient needs.
- Strengthening effective partnerships with relevant government entities, particularly the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO), to coordinate home delivery programs for peritoneal dialysis solutions, ensuring patient comfort and enhancing the quality of services provided in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Baxter expressed its deep gratitude to the Minister of Health and the Ministry of Health for their continuous support. The company reaffirmed the importance of implementing shared goals that would contribute to improving the lives of kidney failure patients in the Kingdom.
