30/09/2014 Argaam

Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa launched today the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) business in Saudi Arabia, paving the way for further expansion of the MVNO model across the region.

The company launched two new telecom services in association with Saudi Telecom (STC), i.e. Virgin Mobile which targets youngsters and Friendi Mobile which is mainly directed to the expatriate community in the kingdom.

Virgin Mobile obtained regulatory approval for offering MVNO services in the kingdom recently.

MVNO operators do not own networks and rent incumbent facilities in return for a share of revenues.
