Basic Chemical Industries Company (BCI) is to commence the trial operations for the metal surfaces treatment project today after completing the final testing process of the project’s equipment and machineries, according to a statement on Tadawul.

The trial run is expected to last for 3 months after which the project will go on stream with the financial effect to be realized after starting commercial production.

The company attributed the delay of project operations to the delay in the preparation and installation of the equipment and machineries as well as major changes in the project’s implementation timetable by the main contractor.

The company also said in its statement that the timetable of Ferric Chloride project has been modified by the main contractor to comply with a number of technical specifications. These modifications raised the project’s cost from SAR 15m to SAR 22m.

BCI has announced the 2 projects in November, 2012 at a total cost of SAR 10m for the metal surfaces treatment project and SAR 15m for the ferric chloride project; according to data compiled by Argaam.
