Maaden extinguishes phosphate plant fire

24/09/2013 Tadawul

The Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) announces that at 7:18PM on 20th September a limited fire broke out at the phosphate rock unloading belt at the MPCs facility in Ras Al Khair. No employees were injured in the event. Company officials responded and extinguished the fire. No other parts of the plant were affected. This stoppage will not affect Maadens ability to meet its obligations to its customers due to the availability of alternative mechanisms for the transfer of phosphate rock by trucks and land transport. Further details, including financial impact will be communicated in the next two weeks when a full engineering review will be completed. The Ma'aden Phosphate Company is a joint venture between Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden ) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation ( SABIC)
