Zamil Offshore Services seeks to double its annual shipbuilding capacity to nine ships and bolster its maintenance capability to around 200 ships annually, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper quoted CEO Sufyan Al-Zamil.
The company invested three billion riyals (USD 800 million) in its shipbuilding department and new arsenal.
The CEO said his company focuses on the Saudi market, and will target the wide-scale GCC and Middle East markets in the long term.
Al-Zamel said there were no accurate figures of the demand in Saudi Arabia, but the company’s major client Aramco will require 30 ships in the coming two years.
