UAE’s Arkan Building Materials Company opened today a new AED 1.3 billion cement factory to leverage its output capacity amid rising demand, the Emirates News Agency reported.
The new plant will increase the company’s clinker output from 900,000 to four million tons, and its cement output from 4.5 to 5.6 million tons annually.
It will help meet rising demand in the UAE and the GCC given the pipeline of construction projects, especially in the real estate and infrastructure sectors, said Suhail Al-Amri, CEO of the General Holding Corporation (SENAAT), which owns 51 percent stake in Arkan.
