SEC signs SAR 4.06 billion contracts to build new plants & connection lines

Saudi Electricity signed ten contracts to build power transmission plants and connection lines, and buy steam condensers, with total value exceeding SAR 4.06 million.

 

The contracts involve the construction of six electricity transformer plants at Waad Al-Shimal, Al-Gurayyat, Al-Jouf and Ar’ar (Northern region), Al-Khafji (Eastern Province) and Al-Madhaya (Jazan).

 

The plants will join service in 29 months from the date of signing of contracts.


Another contract, which will be implemented in 30 months, involves the construction of a dual overhead line with a voltage of 380 kilovolts (kV) between Bisha and eastern Taif, spanning 201 kilometres. The construction of a 23-kilomtre asphalt road between new eastern Taif plant and the line near the Ministry of Defense is also part of the contract.

 

Two other contracts will see the construction of a 380kV dual overhead line between Al-Jouf 2 and Ar’ar central plants and another 380kV overhead line linking Tabarjal and Al-Jouf.

 

The final contract relates to the purchase of steam condensers in the 13th and 14th generating plants in Riyadh.

 

The projects are designed to meet increasing demand in the kingdom and boost economic development in their respective areas.
