Saudi Arabia’s mortgage lending is up 34 percent in the 3rd Quarter, SAMA

Home mortgages extended by Saudi commercial banks to consumers have risen 34 percent to SAR 88.45 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2014 compared to the same period last year, according to Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) or the central bank.

 

The total mortgage loans provided to individuals and companies were SAR 140.4 billion, according to SAMA, which first started releasing information on mortgages in the 4th quarter of last year.

Consumer lending advanced 7 percent to SAR 348.4 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2014 year-on-year, it added.

 

Consumer loans include home improvement and furnishing, car and other loans.
