Saudi Arabia’s credit card loans drop 2 percent, consumer loans up 18 percent in the third quarter

Saudi Arabia’s credit card loans declined 2 percent to SAR 7.97 billion in the third quarter of 2013, compared with the same period the previous year, according to a report by Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA).

 

Credit card loans, however, were 4 percent higher in the third quarter of 2013 than the second quarter of the same year, the report added.

Consumer loans extended by banks advanced 18 percent to SAR 326.9 billion in the third quarter, compared to the same quarter in 2012.

 

Consumer loans are money lent to individuals to buy items such as cars or real estate.
