Loans for Saudi real estate sector advanced to SAR 114 bn in 2013 (+ 29%)

Saudi banks increased their lending to the real estate sector to SAR 113.7bn in 2013, 29% increase compared to 2012.

It was the first time for SAMA to publish data regarding real estate loans advanced by Saudi operating banks.

Retail loans were SAR 70.3bn in 2013, 31% increase compared to the year before while corporate loans rose 26% in 2013 to SAR 43.4bn as shown in the following table:

Consumer loans, which include renovation, improvement and furnishing real estate loans, auto loans, equipment and other loans, rose to SAR 332.04bn in Q4-2013, 14% increase compared to the same period in the previous year as indicated in the following table:

 Credit Card loans rose 5% to SAR 8.41bn in 2013 compared to 2012. Q4-2013’s Credit Card loans rose 6% compared to the preceding Q of the same year.
