Saudi Arabia-based Yamama Cement Co. said it is currently mulling several sites for the relocation of its plant in south Riyadh, according to its annual board report for 2014.
The ministry of petroleum and mineral resources had proposed three mining areas outside of the capital city.
In March 2012, the Higher Committee for Environmental Protection in Riyadh recommended the relocation of Yamama's plant outside the populated area. The cement producer was granted four years to act, data available on Argaam showed.
The company did not disclose further details about the time it will take to choose a new location, or the expected costs.
