Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) said it expects to see toll-free voice calls in the future.
Voice call termination fees have started to decline since 1996, Amgad Shaker, STC's General Manager of Corporate Communication, was quoted as saying in Al Sharq Al Awsat newspaper.
Introducing new solutions and applications will likely create genuine growth opportunities that can provide client-tailored experiences, he said.
Shaker voiced the need for a more digital life in Saudi Arabia through the use of smart cars, digital healthcare services, and smart houses, which will accordingly buoy future demand for online services.
According to data available on Argaam, the kingdom’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) recently cut mobile and fixed-line call connection fees to SAR 0.15 from SAR 0.25.
