Saudi Arabia’s Farabi Petrochemicals Co. is set to award France’s Technip with a contract for the design, engineering and project management contract of its $1 billion petrochemicals plant in the kingdom, Middle East Economic Digest has reported, citing unnamed sources.
The company is expected to begin work on the planned project during the end of May. Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tenders should be completed by early next year.
Farabi operates a linear alkyl benzenes plant at Jubail, which is located in the country’s eastern province.
Technip is said to have won the deal over US-based KBR and British firm, Amec Foster Wheeler.
