Saudi-based Nesma & Partners Co. has won a $1.75 billion contract to undertake the infrastructure work on the King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) in Makkah, Construction Week Online reported on Thursday.
It was awarded by Umm al-Qura for Development & Construction Co., a joint stock company that was formed to manage the development, construction, and operation of the KAAR project.
The infrastructure work is said to involve the construction of 9.5 kilometers of roads and general infrastructure
KAAR is located in the western part of the city, spanning 3,650 meters from the western entrance of the Grand Mosque.
The project manager is the local office of KEO International Consultants. ACES KSA and the UK’s Atkins have prepared designs for the project.
