Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation has given the green light to upgrade plans that will allow Taif airport to host international flights, the state news agency said.
The airport began hosting regional flights from the kingdom and other Middle Eastern airlines three years ago, and received as many as 437,000 travelers last year, according data available on Argaam.
It currently handles around 45 flights a week operated by nine airlines traveling only to domestic and regional destinations in Saudi, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.
