Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), the largest utilities provider in the GCC, has been able to save 15.2 million barrels of fuel over the last 18 months through technology deployment, said Ziyad Al-Shiha, president and chief executive officer of the company.
Al-Shiha said SEC’s move to fully-implement thermal insulation at all new buildings will help the company cut back on 5.5 million megawatts of electricity consumption in the kingdom this year, Saudi daily Al-Yaum reported.
Technology deployment will also continue to help the company reduce its carbon footprint, he added.
