Chemanol to close methanol unit for 15-day maintenance

Methanol Chemicals Co, Chemanol, plans to shut down its methanol plant for a 15-day scheduled maintenance starting Dec. 23, the company said in a statement.

 

Financial impact is expected to be SAR 6 million to SAR 10 million and will be reflected in fourth quarter of 2015. About SAR 4 million will be reflected in the first quarter of 2016.

 

As a result, the company’s dimethylformamide unit, which uses the feedstock produced from the methanol plant, will be closed for 17 days.

 

The pentaerythritol plant will be closed for 26 days to replace the catalyst unit. The financial impact of this shutdown is expected to be around SAR 10 million and will be reflected in fourth quarter of 2015.
