Expat remittances from Saudi Arabia hit record high

Remittance outflows by expatriates in Saudi Arabia grew two percent year-on-year (YoY) in 2015 to a record-high of  SAR 156.9 million, a monthly report issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) showed.

 

Expatriates employed in the private sector reached 8.9 million last year, with an average remittance of SAR 17,400 per employee.

 

Saudi nationals sent a total of SAR 89.2 billion to other countries during the year, marking a one percent increase YoY, the report added.
