Tasnee & Sahara Olefins Co.’s butyl acrylate plant in Jubail is currently operating at 50 to 60 percent capacity, ICIS reported, citing an unnamed industry source.
The company is expected to maintain operations at these levels, if market conditions do not become more favorable, the source added.
Tasnee Sahara Olefins, which is owned by National Industrialization Co. (Tasnee) and Sahara Petrochemical Co., owns a majority stake in Saudi Acrylic Monomer Co. Limited (SAMCO), the operator of the butyl acrylate project.
The plant, which started commercial operation in Q3-2014, produces 160,000 tons of butyl acrylate per annum.
