Aramco’s expansion of Shaybah oilfield nearly complete

23/03/2016 Argaam

Expansion work on Saudi Arabia’s Shaybah oilfield will be completed within a few months, Reuters reported, citing unnamed industry sources with knowledge of the matter.

One source said the expansion project will likely be finished in June, while expansion work on the Khurair oilfield would be completed by the end of 2017.

When completed, Shaybah will boost its production capacity by 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1 million bpd. The Khurais field will see its capacity increased by 300,00 bpd to 1.5 million bpd after expansion.

Saudi Aramco is expanding the Shayban and Khurais oilfields to rebalance its crude quality and maintain production levels at 12 million bpd.

Reuters said the state-owned oil giant declined to comment on the estimated date of completion for both projects.
