The two shortlisted bidding groups for the contract to design and build the new metro link to the Expo 2020 site have sent their final offers to Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), MEED said in a report.
Spain-based Acciona, Turkey’s Gulermak, and France’s Alstom submitted the lowest offer with a price of AED 10.07 billion, which is said to be about 3.5 percent lower than the offer of AED 10.44 billion submitted by Japan’s Obayashi, Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company, and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
The RTA selected the two bidders in April after receiving bids from five groups, the report said.
The metro extension, known as Route 2020, is expected to be a 15-kilometer-long line, will be part of the existing Red Line and will branch off at the Nakheel Harbour & Tower metro station.
The line will also connect to Al-Maktoum International airport.
