Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co., through its contractor CTCI Corp., has awarded Technip a contract to provide engineering and proprietary equipment for a grassroots ethylene cracking furnace at its complex in Jubail.
The design is scheduled for completion in 2017, the Paris-based company said in a statement, without mentioning the amount of the contract.
In February, Kayan awarded Taiwan’s CTCI Corp. a $94.5 million contract to manage the engineering, procurement and construction management of the Jubail complex.
The new cracker is part of a deal with the Saudi Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), which owns 35 percent of Kayan, to enhance the company’s performance in return for extra ethane gas allocations.
