Saudi Aramco has awarded a $1.6 billion contract for developing the second phase of the Hasbah Offshore Gas field, to a consortium led by India’s L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) – a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro.
The consortium is comprised of LTHE and EMAS CHIYODA Subsea (ECS), a joint venture between Singapore’s Ezra Holdings and Japan’s Chiyoda Corporation. LTHE holds a 60 percent share in the contract value, the company said in a statement.
LTHE and ECS will carry out the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the offshore plant.
The scope of the contract also includes interconnections of two trunk lines to transport produced gas from offshore to Aramco’s Fadhili Gas Plant, the statement said.
Scheduled to be completed over a period of three and half years, the project is expected to supply an additional 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of natural gas through the Fadhili plant to meet Saudi Arabia’s growing domestic energy demand.
