Middle East Healthcare Co. (MEAHCO), which owns and operates Saudi German Hospitals (SGH), began the phase one construction of Egypt’s Batterjee Medical City project on Sept. 30, the company said in a statement to the Saudi bourse Tadawul on Sunday.

The first phase comprises a general hospital with 300 beds, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.

The new hospital will be built at a total cost of EGP1.5 billion and staff accommodation at an estimated cost of EGP 110 million, Argaam earlier reported.

The medical city project spreads on a total area of 90,000 square meters and will be financed from the company’s internal resources.
