Egypt says Saudi Aramco oil, gas supplies still suspended

07/11/2016 Argaam

Egypt’s ministry of petroleum on Sunday said that oil supplies from Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) have been suspended for the second consecutive month, CNN reported, citing ministry spokesman Hamdy Abdel-Aziz.

Earlier this year, Saudi Aramco had signed a $23 billion deal to provide Egypt with 700,000 tonnes of oil and gas products each month until 2020.

Abdel-Aziz confirmed that the deal with Aramco is still in effect. However, Egypt was forced to resort to new tenders in October in order to purchase fuel needed for local consumption.
