Saudi Arabia's King Salman has issued a decree fast tracking the implementation of the first phase of Makkah bus network project, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.
The first phase will comprise the construction of two metro lines running at a total length of 42 kilometers, along with 21 bus stops.
Makkah Region Development Authority will fast track the project completion procedures, including the road network, as well as award of contracts to supply, operate and maintain the required buses, spokesman for Makkah province, Sultan Al-Dowsari, said.
The Makkah metro project is part of the holy city’s public transport system, for which the kingdom has earmarked a total of SAR 60 billion, Argaam earlier reported.
