Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture have agreed to stop using some locally grown crops in export products starting in 2018 (1440 Islamic year), Alwatan newspaper reported.
The decision came after officials inspected export products such as potato chips, onion rings, and corn flakes that are made out of local crops and found them to be unsuitable to export.
Some of the local crops in question include those grown in open fields, such as potatoes.
