Riyadh-based General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is planning to license a new airline in July, Saudi Gazette reported, citing Abdul Hakim Al-Badr, GACA’s vice president for air transport and security and safety.
“The new license will reduce air ticket prices and improve quality of service. We want to open ticket fares without putting any cap in order to promote fair competition,” Al-Badr added while speaking to reporters in Riyadh.
Al-Badr also unveiled a plan for licensing another ground services company.
The aviation sector regulator is also looking to convert all regional airports in the Kingdom into international airports and link small cities together without passing by Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, he added.
