Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Co. (Zain) has submitted a technical and financial bid for the third mobile license in Oman, in line with the regulations set by the sultanate’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the telecom operator said in a statement to Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) on Monday.
Oman awarded its first mobile license to Omantel, while the second license was bagged by Oman Qatari Telecommunications Co. (Ooredoo Oman).
Zain's bid will include an integrated business plan, the statement said, adding that the move comes in line the telco's pursuit of the optimal investment opportunities.
The bidders' shortlist will be revealed on Aug. 14, 2017, and the winning bidder will be disclosed on Sep. 4, 2017.
