22/05/2017 Argaam

The Saudi cabinet has issued directives to the ministry of environment, water & agriculture to conduct a feasibility study on a water grid that would provide a sustainable water infrastructure network in the kingdom, state-run news agency, SPA has reported.

The feasibility study should be submitted to the cabinet within three months.

The water and sewage infrastructure, excluding wells, will be handled by Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA).

Meanwhile, Alahsa Irrigation and Drainage Authority will also be rebranded into the public authority for irrigation, as it would tackle irrigation, and drainage services all over the kingdom.

The Saudi cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Saudi Arabia and Japan over the implementation of the Saudi –Japan Vision 2030.
