Saudi banks’ investments in Treasury bonds increased by SAR 2.9 billion month-on-month to SAR 197.8 billion in May, data from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority’s (SAMA) showed.
Assets held by SAMA recorded a five-year low in May as it dropped by SAR 18.3 billion.
Saudi Arabia had issued local and international debt instruments worth SAR 200.1 billion in 2016.
The finance minister earlier said he expects the Kingdom to resume issuing local bonds this month.
