Trial run of Haramain train between Jeddah, Madinah today

25/07/2017 Argaam

Saudi Arabia’s Haramain high-speed rail project will do a trial run on Tuesday between Jeddah and Madinah stations.

The train, which will have senior transport ministry officials and Makkah region administrators on board, will run up to the control building at King Abdullah Economic City in Madinah before returning to Jeddah.

The 450-km long railway is expected to be operational by the beginning of 2018, and will link the kingdom’s holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, passing through Jeddah and Rabigh.

The high-speed train recently completed a trial run at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour (kmph).
