King Abdullah Port has attributed its rapid growth to its primary supplier Specialized Marine Services (SMS), which has provided services to 1,460 vessels in 2016, a figure that is expected to increase by 30 percent this year.
After just three years of operation, King Abdullah Port has been ranked the 98th largest port worldwide in 2017 as well as the world’s fastest growing port in 2016 by the British industry magazine Container Management, the statement said.
Established in 2013, the marine services supplier SMS is a joint venture between the Ports Development Company (PDC), a private sector owner and developer of King Abdullah Port, and the National Port Services Company Ltd.
Considered to be the region’s largest infrastructure megaproject, King Abdullah Port was built to cope with the Kingdom’s economic and commercial growth in the coming decades, contributing to Vision 2030.
