The Hajj metro train between holy sites in Saudi Arabia operated smoothly this year, according to Public Transport Authority (PTA).
The transport service, known as Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro, helped pilgrims commute between holy sites to complete their rituals, PTA president Rumaih Al-Rumaih was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency.
The metro line extends almost 20 kilometers with nine stations, and the trains are about 300 meters in length.
Al-Rumaih said the capacity efficiency of the railway is at the highest level worldwide. Each carriage has a maximum capacity of nearly 3,000 pilgrims, the report said.
